What is Managed Software Center?
Managed Software Center is a macOS (OS X) application that makes it possible to install software that WCER Technical Services has packaged and receive updates to installed software. Managed Software Center allows the user to perform installations, updates, and removal of approved software on their schedule without intervention of an administrator. If you have ever used the App Store on your Mac, then Managed Software Center should look very familiar. Its interface is based upon the App Store so most users should feel comfortable with it right away. There are four main sections/pages of the interface: Software, Categories, My Items, and Updates. In addition, there is also the Quick Links sidebar. Quick Links is present whenever you are in the software section, or within a selected category.

The Categories page will display all software available to your machine, but sorted into categories for easier viewing. These categories can be drilled into and allow users to install software they would like to install.
My Items
The My Items page provides users with an organized list of all applications that are currently installed on their system and can be removed by clicking the REMOVE button. Updates
The Updates page shows the list of updates that are currently available to your system. It will display updates to installed software, new software to be installed, and software to be removed. Users can click on the UPDATE ALLbutton to perform all updates at once. If the list is empty, clicking on the CHECK AGAIN button will force another look for updates.
Pending vs Available updates: If an item is pending, it will be installed (or removed) at the next update, but available updates will not be a acted upon until the user adds them to the pending updates list.
This may be done within the Updates page by clicking on the '+' symbol to the right of an item's description.
Quick Links
The Quick Linkssidebar provides links to various UW and WCER resources, and is accessible mainly under the Software page. All links will open in a new window of your default web browser.
NOTE: Managed Software Center comes preinstalled on all WCER issued Macs. Please contact WCER Technical Services if you have a WCER-owned Mac and would like to have Managed Software Center installed.
Where Is My Installed Software Mac Pro

Most recent Macs have ditched the optical drives that were once staple features. If you’ve been employing such drives for years to install software, you’re probably left wondering how to complete the task given their absence.
You can connect an optional USB accessory to replace the missing drive, of course. In many instances, you can download new programs directly from the Internet. And the Mac App Store makes it a breeze to fetch programs that you buy there.
Still, you may have come upon installation discs that are required to load older programs (and possibly new ones as well). Even without a built-in disk drive, you figure that there must be a way to install the software.
Where Is My Mac Address
You figure right, at least if you have an available DVD or CD drive on another computer, whether that computer is a Mac or even a Windows PC. That other machine must be connected to the same network as the Mac on which you want to load software. Also, your Mac must support the Remote Disc feature, but the good news is that all the recent models do.
Proceed as follows: If the optical drive you’re sharing is on a Mac, open System Preferences, choose Sharing, and select the check box for DVD or CD Sharing. At your discretion, also select the Ask Me Before Allowing Others to Use My DVD Drive check box. Place the DVD in the drive you’re sharing from and then go to the Mac that doesn’t have an optical drive.
On that computer, open a Finder window, and select Remote Disc on the Sidebar. You should see an icon for the computer that has the optical drive. Double-click the icon, and click Connect. Click Ask to Use if the other computer chose the aforementioned Ask Me option. The other computer must then accept your request. Assuming that this happens, you can install the program as though the optical drive were local to the computer that’s gaining the new software.
Where Is My Mac Id
If the optical drive you’re sharing from is on a Windows PC, you must download DVD or CD Sharing Update 1.0 for Windows. Then enable DVD or CD Sharing in the Hardware and Sound section of Control Panel. Back on your Mac, open a Finder window, and proceed as before.
